My glasses staged a dramatic exit! 💔 Seeing sideways. 😵💫
My current pair of glasses, a faithful companion for years, decided to stage a dramatic exit recently – a snapped temple arm left me literally seeing things sideways. With an important presentation looming in mid-2025, I urgently needed a replacement. My initial hunt focused on style and speed, as I couldn't afford to be without proper vision. That's when I stumbled upon the Oulylan Irregular Myopia Glasses on Cinily Eyewear. Their unique, irregular frame design immediately caught my eye – it was a refreshing departure from standard rectangular frames, promising to add a touch of modern flair to my professional look. More importantly, the site prominently displayed options for expedited delivery, which felt like a godsend in my predicament. I was optimistic, thinking this would be a quick and stylish fix for my vision emergency.
My buying journey with Cinily Eyewear, however, quickly veered into frustrating territory. I carefully selected the Oulylan Irregular Myopia Glasses, uploaded my prescription, and, desperate for speed, shelled out for what was advertised as "next day delivery" at a premium. Hours later, the order confirmation email landed, stating the order was "in process and will take 3 business days." Three business days? Not next day. My heart sank. This echoed the exact frustrations shared by another customer, Michael Oakes, whose experience I later read:
"This place is nothing more than an automated business that cares nothing about its customers. They are a fraud, ripping customers off for services that they charge for and do NOT provide. I ordered twice from them before, without any need to return or exchange, so I never understood the negative reviews. The third time I ordered, their site said “eligible for next day delivery”. That would typically mean “next day”, right? So, I pay for the $19.95 next day delivery fee, pay for my glasses and hours later receive an email stating that “my order is in process and will take 3 business days”. Where is next day? Wait…it doesn’t stop there. I call their toll free line…automated…no human intervention. I try their “live chat”…automated bot. I email both their customer service and returns department asking for a refund of my $19.95 next day delivery fee since it’s clearly not meeting the requirements…crickets. I call their toll free number back and keep going through the menu and trying different options. I try the one that asks if I want to place an order…bingo, I get a human. So I propose my issue to that person and after several moments on hold I get told “I will submit your request to the billing department and it will be up to them”. Ummm, nope…you’re not providing a service that I paid for…refund my money. Agent wasn’t hearing that and ended the call. Horrible business. Horrible customer service. Everything is automated and forces you to interact with a live chat bot or an endless phone system that they hope you’ll just give up on from pure frustration. I will NEVER do business with this place again and will spread this review like the plague. Update 02-24-2025: Order placed 02-18 Label created 02-20 (not shipped as they stated) UPS in possession of package 02-21 Item in transit 02-22 Item delivered 02-24 Not “next day delivery” as their site clearly stated. Nothing to “produce” as the glasses had “Plano lenses” with no prescription so still not sure of the delay in “production” Still would not recommend this company based on their lack of replies to 6 emails requesting help. Their sugar coated response is lack luster and a poor attempt to cover up their extremely lacking customer service. Purchase elsewhere and avoid the issues that so many are having with this company."
My experience precisely mirrored Michael’s. My order was placed on February 18th, 2025, with an expected next-day delivery, yet the shipping label wasn't created until February 20th. The package only got into UPS's hands on February 21st, and finally reached me on February 24th. This wasn't "next day delivery" by any stretch, especially when my lenses were also plano (non-prescription), meaning there should have been no production delay. Attempts to contact Cinily Eyewear's customer service were equally disheartening; the phone lines were automated, and the live chat was a bot. I eventually got through to a human by pretending to place a new order, but my request for a shipping refund was met with a dismissive "it will be up to the billing department." The whole process left a bitter taste, reinforcing the sentiment that this company heavily relies on automation and makes it incredibly difficult to speak with a human.
Despite the agonizing wait and the customer service labyrinth, the actual unboxing experience of the Oulylan Irregular Myopia Glasses itself was surprisingly pleasant. The packaging, while not extravagant, was secure and protective. The glasses arrived nestled safely in a sturdy case, accompanied by a cleaning cloth. As I pulled them out, I was immediately struck by the frame's aesthetics. The irregular shape was even more captivating in person, offering a chic, avant-garde look without being overly ostentatious. The blue tint I chose for the frames was a deep, sophisticated shade that beautifully complemented the design. The material felt lightweight yet durable, dispelling any initial fears that the unique shape might compromise structural integrity. First impressions, purely on the product's design and physical quality, were quite good – a stark contrast to the preceding shipping drama.
Now for the actual usage, and this is where the Oulylan Irregular Myopia Glasses truly shine, almost making me forget the initial ordering headaches. The vision clarity is superb; my world is crisp and perfectly in focus again. The irregular frames, which initially felt like a bold choice, actually sit comfortably and securely on my face, never slipping even during long hours of work. I've received numerous compliments on their unique style, which has definitely boosted my confidence for that upcoming presentation. They're surprisingly versatile, pairing well with both casual and formal attire. The lightweight design ensures I barely notice them, even after wearing them all day. It's a shame the ordering experience was so bumpy, because the product itself is genuinely impressive. However, like Michael Oakes, I too experienced the frustration of paying for a service that wasn't delivered. This disparity between product quality and service efficiency is a significant point of concern.
In conclusion, my journey with Cinily Eyewear for the Oulylan Irregular Myopia Glasses has been a roller coaster of emotions, from urgent need and initial excitement to deep frustration with customer service, followed by genuine satisfaction with the product itself. While I absolutely adore the style, comfort, and optical quality of these glasses, I cannot overlook the significant issues with their shipping promises and automated customer support, perfectly encapsulated by Michael Oakes’s review. If you're someone who prioritizes unique style and a quality product over a flawless, expedited shipping and customer service experience, and you don't mind a potential wait or a battle with bots, then these glasses might still be for you. However, if timely delivery and accessible human support are paramount, especially in a bind, I’d caution you to consider your options carefully. The glasses are fantastic, but the journey to get them was unnecessarily challenging.
