When reading a book becomes a complicated dance of swapping glasses. 📖💻👓💃
There comes a time in everyone's life, or at least in mine, when the simple act of reading a book or looking at a computer screen becomes a complicated dance of swapping glasses. I found myself constantly searching for my reading glasses, only to take them off a moment later to see something across the room. It was incredibly frustrating, a daily ritual of fumbling that many people, I'm sure, can relate to. My biggest pain point was the sheer inconvenience – wearing one pair for distance, another for reading, and still a third for computer work. I needed a solution that would streamline my vision, something that could adapt to my day without me having to perform a magic trick every few minutes. The idea of progressive multifocal glasses had been simmering for a while, promising seamless transitions, and the allure of ordering them online for a better price was definitely a pull.
My journey to find the perfect pair began, as most things do for me, with a deep dive into online reviews and product comparisons. I spent hours browsing various optical websites, weighing options, and looking for a balance between quality and cost. Cinily Eyewear caught my eye with their diverse range and competitive pricing. The specific model that eventually won me over was the SHINU Progressive Multifocal Reading Glasses. The detailed descriptions of their anti-radiation properties and customizable prescriptions sounded exactly like what I needed. The online ordering process was fairly straightforward for me, allowing me to upload my prescription without much hassle. However, as I proceeded, I couldn't help but recall some of the cautionary tales I’d read, particularly concerning customer service and shipping expectations. This definitely added a layer of apprehension to my otherwise hopeful purchase.
And speaking of apprehension, my experience with the delivery and customer service was unfortunately not entirely smooth sailing, echoing the frustrations of some other customers. After placing my order in early 2025, I was given an estimated delivery window that felt a bit optimistic, especially for prescription lenses. The tracking updates were sporadic, leaving me in a state of 'will it or won't it arrive on time?' This made me think of Michael Oakes's incredibly detailed and disheartening review, which I will share here in its entirety, as it encapsulates the potential pitfalls: "This place is nothing more than an automated business that cares nothing about its customers. They are a fraud, ripping customers off for services that they charge for and do NOT provide. I ordered twice from them before, without any need to return or exchange, so I never understood the negative reviews. The third time I ordered, their site said “eligible for next day delivery”. That would typically mean “next day”, right? So, I pay for the $19.95 next day delivery fee, pay for my glasses and hours later receive an email stating that “my order is in process and will take 3 business days”. Where is next day? Wait…it doesn’t stop there. I call their toll free line…automated…no human intervention. I try their “live chat”…automated bot. I email both their customer service and returns department asking for a refund of my $19.95 next day delivery fee since it’s clearly not meeting the requirements…crickets. I call their toll free number back and keep going through the menu and trying different options. I try the one that asks if I want to place an order…bingo, I get a human. So I propose my issue to that person and after several moments on hold I get told “I will submit your request to the billing department and it will be up to them”. Ummm, nope…you’re not providing a service that I paid for…refund my money. Agent wasn’t hearing that and ended the call. Horrible business. Horrible customer service. Everything is automated and forces you to interact with a live chat bot or an endless phone system that they hope you’ll just give up on from pure frustration. I will NEVER do business with this place again and will spread this review like the plague. Update 02-24-2025: Order placed 02-18 Label created 02-20 (not shipped as they stated) UPS in possession of package 02-21 Item in transit 02-22 Item delivered 02-24 Not “next day delivery” as their site clearly stated. Nothing to “produce” as the glasses had “Plano lenses” with no prescription so still not sure of the delay in “production” Still would not recommend this company based on their lack of replies to 6 emails requesting help. Their sugar coated response is lack luster and a poor attempt to cover up their extremely lacking customer service. Purchase elsewhere and avoid the issues that so many are having with this company." While my situation wasn't as extreme as Michael’s with the "next day delivery" scam, the lack of proactive communication and the automated responses I encountered when trying to get clearer tracking details did leave me feeling a bit adrift. It felt like walking through a maze of bots, hoping to find a human connection.
Despite the initial shipping jitters, my glasses finally arrived in late 2025. The anticipation had built up, and I tore into the package with cautious optimism. The packaging itself was simple and functional, a sturdy case protecting the glasses. There wasn't a grand unboxing experience, but everything was secure and intact. Holding the SHINU Progressive Multifocal Reading Glasses, I was immediately impressed by their lightweight yet solid feel. The frame design was sleek and modern, exactly as it appeared online, fitting my face comfortably. The lenses looked clear and felt robust, giving me a strong first impression that, despite the earlier service hiccups, the product itself seemed promising.
Now, for the main event: the actual wearing experience. The transition from distance to close-up vision with these multifocal lenses has been nothing short of a revelation. I can seamlessly glance from my computer screen to notes on my desk, and then out to the window, all without needing to adjust my head or switch glasses. The anti-radiation feature is also a subtle but welcome addition; my eyes feel less strained after prolonged screen time. "Great product at a great price," as Barbara Olsen succinctly put it. She even added, "I love these glasses more than the ones for which I paid 6X as much!" I can absolutely relate to that sentiment. The value for money is exceptional. Nicole Morfa also had a positive experience, stating, "I had a great experience here with Wesley. He was extremely helpful and adjusted my glasses so now they’re perfect. They have great prices! I definitely recommend coming, i will be back for my sunglasses and my other prescription glasses!" While I didn't have an in-person adjustment like Nicole, the fit right out of the box was surprisingly good, confirming that Cinily Eyewear does deliver on the product quality when it eventually arrives. The only minor "con" for me was the initial adjustment period to progressive lenses – it took a day or two to fully acclimate to the sweet spots for different distances, but that's typical for multifocals and not a flaw of this specific product.
Overall, my journey with Cinily Eyewear, particularly with my SHINU Progressive Multifocal Reading Glasses, has been a mixed bag, yet ultimately a positive one for the product itself. The purchasing process and post-purchase communication could certainly be improved, as highlighted by other frustrated customers and my own mild anxieties. However, the glasses themselves are fantastic, delivering on their promise of clear, adaptive vision at an unbeatable price. "Great product, great price," as Russell Edge simply put it – and that truly encapsulates my final feeling about the glasses themselves. I would recommend these SHINU progressive multifocals to anyone tired of juggling multiple pairs of glasses, especially those who are comfortable with online shopping and are prepared for potential minor delays or automated customer service interactions. If you prioritize value and functionality over a perfectly smooth delivery experience, these glasses are absolutely worth it.
